NYIT Graduate Credit Option


The following course description pertains to obtaining graduate credit for the Intel® Teach Essentials or Intel® Teach Essentials Hybrid Online course:

EDIT 701: Contemporary Strategies for Technology Integration in Curriculum

Candidates explore essentials of technology integration, curriculum enhancement using backward design, differentiated instruction and authentic inquiry. Using the Intel® Teach Essentials Course materials, candidates learn how, when, and where to incorporate technology tools and resources into current curriculum with the goal of developing their students’ higher-order thinking skills. Candidates develop new ways to create assessment tools and align lesson plans with state and national standards. This course incorporates hands-on use of the Internet, Web page design, and multimedia software.

Note: This course is designed for intermediate computer users with the ability to create and manage files, navigate the Internet, use word processing software and e-mail.

Tuition: $355


The following course description pertains to obtaining graduate credit for the Intel® Teach Thinking With Technology course:

EDIT 702: Critical Thinking and Communicating with Technology

Candidates explore higher order thinking skills using technology integrated into the curriculum. Using the Intel® Teach Thinking with Technology Course materials candidates design instruction to manage, explore, and communicate complex and interconnected issues. Candidates learn to use technology tools for setting priorities, comparing and contrasting factors, investigating cause-and-effect relationships, and building well-structured arguments to support position on issues. Candidates develop project-based learning strategies aligned to curriculum standards for student inquiry, communication and collaboration using online tools.

Note: This course is designed for intermediate computer users with the ability to create and manage files, navigate the Internet, use word processing software and e-mail.

Tuition: $355


Graduate Student Responsibilities

  • Complete and submit the Express Application for Non-matriculated students with the Tuition fee $355 payable NYIT. For credit card use the Office of the Bursar Credit Card Authorization Form.
  • Create an NYIT Connect account using NYIT ID number assigned which will be mailed to you by NYIT. (If you do not receive this please contact the Teacher Center that hosted the course.)
  • Create a Login following instruction on login to NYIT Connect BlackBoard.
  • Complete the additional work beyond the 40-hour Intel® course to comply with the Carnegie Unit requirements for graduate credit.
  • Complete all requirements for each 3-credit course
    1. FINAL PROJECT comprised on a comprehensive, fully completed individual unit plan. In order to earn the graduate credit the unit plan needs to be completed as an individual assignment.
    2. PERSONAL REFLECTION of implementation plans, and,
    3. PEER REVIEW of other projects
  • Submit requirements to Blackboard in the appropriate course section.
  • Follow all directions and deadlines provided by NYIT faculty instructor.
  • Communicate any questions or requests for clarification to NYIT faculty instructor.
